District Neighbors Lost to Violence Jan 25 – 31

The District of Columbia lost the following individuals to violence in the last week:

  • January 26 — 2400 block of Elvans Road, SE (shooting)
    49-year-old Bernadette King, of Southeast
  • January 28 — 800 block of Chesapeake Street, SE (shooting)
    26-year-old Todd Green, of Southeast
  • January 28 — 1000 block of Mount Olivet Road, NE (1/25 shooting)
    16-year-old Taiyania Thompson, of Northeast
  • January 29 — 5400 block of C Street, SE (trauma)
    death on 3/21/17 ruled homicide on 1/29/18
    1-year-old Rhythm Fields, of Southeast

We are still in the 30-day mourning period for the following individuals lost to violence in the District:

  • December 26 — 2900 block of MLK Jr. Ave., SE (12/23 shooting)
    22-year-old Maleak Coffin, of Southeast
  • December 26 — 2200 block of Douglas Street, NE (shooting)
    38-year-old Jermaine Bowens, of Northeast
  • December 27 — 1800 block of Bryant Street, NE (shooting)
    21-year-old Elijah Henry, of Northeast
  • December 28 — 900 block of Eastern Avenue, NE (shooting)
    23-year-old Ronzay Green, of Northeast
  • December 28 — 800 block of Adrian Place, SE (shooting)
    23-year-old Kerrice Lewis, of Hyattsville, Maryland.
  • December 29 — 3900 block of 1st Street, SE (shooting)
    20-year-old Dante Coleman, of Southeast
  • January 5 — 5000 Block of Jay Street, NE (12/9/16 shooting)
    17-year-old James Colter, of Northeast
  • January 10 — 2400 block of Skyland Place, SE (shooting)
    19-year-old Paris Brown, of Southeast
  • January 12 — 400 block of Riggs Road, NE (shooting)
    17-year-old Davon Fisher, of Northeast
  • January 14 — 1700 block of Minnesota Avenue, SE (shooting)
    14-year-old Steven Slaughter, of Southeast
  • January 17 — 2000 block of 16th Street, SE (shooting)
    23-year-old Jasmine Lashai Light, Southwest
  • January 20 — 4700 block of Benning Road, SE (shooting)
    29-year-old Kenneth Poindexter, of Southeast
