District Neighbors Lost to Violence Nov 29 – Dec 5

The District of Columbia lost the following individuals to violence in recent days:

  • November 30 — Unit Block of 57th Place, SE (shooting)
    19-year-old Nya Howard-Reynolds, of Alexandria, VA
  • December 1 — 800 Block of Taylor Street, NE (11/26 shooting)
    37-year-old Malik Muhammad, of Bowie, MD

We are still in the 30-day mourning period for the following individuals lost to violence in the District:

  • October 30 — 4800 block of Alabama Avenue, SE (Shooting)
    25-year-old Taquan Smith, of Southeast
  • October 30 — 5000 block of Fitch Place, NE (shooting)
    26-year-old Terrance Johnson, of Southeast
  • October 31 — 100 block of Mississippi Avenue, SE (shooting)
    29-year-old Kevin Jackson, of Southeast
  • October 31 — unit block of Massachusetts Avenue, NE (shooting)
    34-year-old James Eric Ferrell, of no fixed address.
  • November 3 — 900 block of Brentwood Road, NE (shooting)
    68-year-old Nazir Ahmad, of Laurel, MD.
  • November 5 — 300 block of 50th Street, NE (shooting)
    26-year-old Dewayne Weaver, of Southeast
  • November 6 — 3900 block of Southern Avenue, SE (shooting)
    22-year-old Gibril Turner, of Southeast
  • November 7– Unit block of Galveston Place, SW (shooting)
    37-year-old Eugene Johnson, of Southwest
  • November 8– 1500 block of Benning Road, NE (stabbing)
    38-year-old Jelani Mohammed of Silver Spring, MD.
  • November 15 — 800 block of Florida Avenue, NW (shooting)
    26-year-old Javon Smith, of Southeast
  • November 18 — 800 block of Jefferson Street, NW (Shooting)
    26-year-old Dwight Banks of Northwest
  • November 26 — 1600 block of New Jersey Avenue, NW (assault)
    22-year-old Noe Alberto Gallardo Ponce, of Northwest
  • November 26 — 1800 block of Benning Road, NE (shooting)
    20-year-old Randall Francis, of Southeast
  • November 28 — 100 block of Irvington Street, SW (shooting)
    23-year-old Samuel Lee Smith, of Southeast

On March 5, two 1985 deaths in the Unit Block of Quincy Place, NW, were re-classified from accidental to homicide:

  • 42-year-old Bessie Mae Duncan
  • 40-year old Roy Picott, both of Northwest

In addition:

  • Three skeletal remains, all declared homicides, found on 100 block of Wayne, SE, are yet to be identified
