Shooting Deaths Inside DC 2023
In 2023, DC announced 44 violent killings as of 3/22/23. Of those, 7 violent losses were due to stabbing, strangulation, or other cause. 37 were gun-related deaths, including 34 homicides and 3 incidents involving law enforcement (one fatal shooting by US Marshals; one incident in which MPD say the victim shot himself; one shooting by US Park Police).
